Teenage Hair Loss

Hair loss is an uncommon occurrence for teenage boys, but there are quite a good number of youngsters that experience this very unsettling condition and they do not have the first idea of how to deal with it. The best way to deal with it is to know what is causing it. The most telling sign that this would be a challenge at an early age is genetics. If all the men in your family are losing volumes of their hair then there is a fair chance that you might lose your hair as well. If the hair loss is less than half of your entire hair volume, it is a good sign that it will grow back to normal.

There are also some cases where medication would have to be taken or applied to the bald spot. Tinea Capitis is one condition that can plague teenage boys. In layman’s terms, this is scalp ringworm, a fungus that can cause hair loss in patches. It is unsightly and contagious and should be treated immediately with anti-fungal topical medicines and certain shampoos.

Another hair loss condition is Traction Alopecia, which occurs more commonly in teenagers as it is caused by using too much hair styling products and too much hair treatment. So you may want to ease up on excessive hair style changes, too much hair drying and daily grooming with gels or mousses. Sometimes it could just be poor hygiene.

Be sure to have a healthy hair care regimen. You do not need hair styling gel everyday of the week. If you do indeed find that you are losing your hair fast, do not try to self-medicate and go straight to the doctor for consultation.
